Region VI
Month of the Military Child - April

Welcome to Region VI of the National Association for Black Veterans.
Kentucky, Indiana, Missouri, Ohio, and Tennessee

“Improving the Quality of life for All Veterans”

“No Veterans Left Behind”

As we recognize the Month of the Military Child this April, I would like to take a moment, as your Region Commander, to honor the strength, resilience, and sacrifices of our military children.

These young individuals serve alongside their families in ways that often go unseen—enduring frequent moves, long separations, and the unique challenges of military life with courage and adaptability. They are an essential part of our military community and our nation’s future.

I also want to emphasize the importance of our continued support for youth development initiatives, especially programs like Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (JROTC) and Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC). These programs instill discipline, leadership, and a strong sense of service in our young people, helping to shape the next generation of leaders.

I encourage all members to remain actively engaged in mentoring, supporting, and uplifting our military youth. Whether through community outreach, scholarship efforts, or direct involvement with JROTC and ROTC units, your contributions make a lasting impact.

Let us continue to stand together in support of our military families and ensure that our youth are recognized, empowered, and given every opportunity to succeed.

Respectfully, Irvin Lyons Jr., Region VI Commander

Check on a veteran, we are our brothers and sisters keeper.  Wellness checks are encouraged as we stay connected with all veterans.  Our veterans are in need of your assistance in their mental health and well-being, reach out to one or a few and take a moment to listen to them (you may never know how important this is in reference to every veteran).
